In a latest attempt to bolster their struggling bullpen, the Mets have promoted right-hander Eric Orze from Triple-A Syracuse. He takes the roster spot of Ty Adcock, who was optioned back to Triple-A following yesterday’s game, in which he gave up six runs in 1 2⁄3 innings pitched and was taken deep three times.
Edwin Díaz will return to the hobbled bullpen today and though the Mets did not completely fall apart without him, they went 5-5 having dropped their third straight yesterday and the bullpen has been a liability during this stretch.
