Mr. Met is not out of a job.
The Mets employee who flipped a bird at fans while wearing the mascot costume after Wednesday’s 7-1 loss to the Milwaukee Brewers will keep a job with the team, but will not be acting as the mascot again, according to a team official.
“We apologize for the inappropriate action of this employee,” the Mets said in a statement. “We do not condone this type of behavior. We are dealing with this matter internally.”
The Mets have more than one person acting as Mr. Met throughout the season, and even have multiple costumes.
