Edgardo Alfonzo posted on Instagram Thursday a message expressing disappointment he was recently dumped as manager at Single-A Brooklyn, which won the New York/Penn League championship. The popular former Mets player has been offered an ambassadorship role in the organization, but said he would like to pursue other on-field jobs in baseball.
“My coaches & I are very proud of the championship we won and I think that says a lot about my leadership as manager,” Alfonzo wrote.
Van Wagenen on Monday called Aflonzo’s removal at Brooklyn a “player-development decision.”
