Fan-favorite and Mets Hall of Fame inductee Ed Kranepool is in need of a kidney donor, the Daily News reports.
The 72-year-old had his left big toe amputated on Wednesday after he developed an infection last summer. Kranepool is currently on the Stony Brook Hospital waiting list for a kidney donor.
"I was on a boat trip. I was rushed to the hospital and I thought I was having heart attack," Kranepool told the Daily News. "The doctor said, 'I have good news and bad news. The good news is it's not your heart. The bad news is you need a new kidney.
