As much as Dwight Gooden appreciates 2018 NL Cy Young winner Jacob deGrom’s talent, he says the highest ceiling in the Mets’ rotation might belong to another pitcher.
In an online chat hosted by Reddit on Thursday, Gooden picked Noah Syndergaard as the Mets pitcher with the most potential.
“Without taking anything away from deGrom, I think Noah is still learning how to pitch and has the chance to really become one of the game’s best as he continues to grow,” Gooden wrote.
Syndergaard was nicked by injuries last season, finishing 13-4 with a 3.
