The Dodgers and 25-year-old Japanese pitcher Yoshinobu Yamamoto have agreed to a 12-year, $325 million deal, per Jeff Passan. The signing follows the Dodgers’ $700 million deal with Shohei Ohtani.
The Mets had been one of the teams in the running to sign Yamamoto, as Steve Cohen and David Stearns flew to Japan to meet with him before he came to the United States to meet with several teams. And Yamamoto had dinner at Cohen’s house near the end of that stretch of meetings. Mike Puma reports that the Mets offered Yamamoto the same deal that he got from the Dodgers.
