Dodgers pick A.J. Pollock, not Bryce Harper, as Mets miss out

It appears the Dodgers are out on Bryce Harper, and the Mets are officially out on A.J. Pollock.

Pollock, among the top free-agent outfielders, has agreed to a deal pending a physical with the Dodgers, The Post confirmed Thursday. The terms of the contract were not yet known.

This likely takes the Dodgers out of the Harper auction, taking the suitors down (at least for now) to the Nationals and Phillies.

The Mets were on the very fringes of the Pollock sweepstakes after GM Brodie Van Wagenen said last month that the Wilson Ramos signing represented the right-handed, middle-of-the-order bat they needed.
