With David Wright's return from his hamstring injury delayed and the Mets beginning to teeter, Sandy Alderson made the aggressive move late Thursday night to shift Daniel Murphy to third base and call up Dilson Herrera, 21, to play second.
Herrera, who was batting .370 in Triple-A, was in the lineup Friday night as the Mets hosted the Nationals at Citi Field. Alderson said this will be the configuration until Wright returns from his hamstring strain. The Mets had hoped he would come back this weekend. Then they targeted next weekend, and now that timetable also might be pushed back.
