Different Sox, Same Story

The Mets, who need to win just about every game they play in September in a tight Wild Card race, started their month off on the right foot, handling an American League playoff hopeful in the Boston Red Sox by a score of 4-1.

Luis Severino and Brayan Bello traded scoreless frames in the first, but the Mets got to Bello in the second. Jose Iglesias led off the frame with a single, and McNeil hit a single of his own to make it first and third with no outs. Starling Marte would drive in the run, but at the cost of two outs, hitting a routine double play ball.
