Díaz blows save, Mets play embarrassing baseball in tenth inning and lose fifth-straight game

This all might sound pretty familiar. The Mets got a very good start from Luis Severino, took a slim lead into the late innings, blew the lead, and got blown out in extra innings. This time around, the game ended 7-2 in favor of the Giants, who handed the Mets their fifth-straight loss.

Severino went seven innings, struck out six, walked three, and gave up one run on just two hits. And Starling Marte got the Mets on the board first with a solo home run in the bottom of the second.

The Giants scored that lone run against Severino in the top of the sixth, but Brett Baty hit a solo home run in the bottom of the seventh to tie it.
