Devin Mesoraco’s time with Mets likely coming to an end

LAKE BUENA VISTA, Fla. — Hell, no, he won’t go.

Devin Mesoraco was among the Mets players reassigned to minor-league camp Saturday, but the veteran catcher has informed team brass that he won’t report and wants to be released to pursue other potential big league opportunities.

According to an industry source, Mesoraco — who last month returned to the team on a minor-league deal — would rather retire than play for Triple-A Syracuse. Mesoraco, according to the source, was under the belief he would be added to the major-league roster by the end of camp.

Mesoraco’s reassignment by the club came a day after he went unclaimed by every team, which had an opportunity to add him to their 25-man roster after the catcher exercised the upward mobility clause in his contract.
