The Mets’ first MLB-signing of the offseason was former Phillies pitcher Dylan Covey. With the signing of Ryne Stanek possibly being the Mets’ final move of the offseason, it is almost poetic that the Mets as the corresponding move on the 40-Man Roster.
Covey, who was signed on the first day of free agency after the 2024 World Series, most recently pitched for the Phillies in 2023 and 2024 as a reliever, though most of his professional career has been spent as a starter. A ground ball pitcher who flashed some success in the Chinese Professional Baseball League, Covey was always going to be a player who likely spent some time in the minors this year.
