Dellin Betances signing with Mets in surprising crosstown move

Dellin Betances is staying in New York, but he’s switching boroughs.

The longtime Yankees reliever is signing with the Mets, The Post’s Joel Sherman confirmed. Betances, 31, was a four-time All-Star reliever for the Yankees, but there is some uncertainty surrounding him entering 2020.

Betances made just one appearance during the 2019 season. He missed most of the year with shoulder and lat injuries before finally pitching on Sept. 15 in Toronto. During that game, he suffered a partial Achilles tear and was ruled out for the remainder of the season.

That makes three All-Star relievers in the Mets’ bullpen who are question marks, as Edwin Diaz and Jeurys Familia went through massively disappointing 2019 campaigns.
