DeGrom throws 71 pitches in simulated game

RHP Jacob deGrom threw 71 pitches during a simulated game at Tradition Field in Port St. Lucie Tuesday afternoon, according to Marc Craig of Newsday Sports.

While it's possible deGrom could return to the rotation as early as this weekend, Terry Collins said it's more likely going to be during the team's next home stand.

DeGrom was put on family emergency leave Saturday because of complications with his newborn son Jaxon Anthony, who was just born last Monday. DeGrom had been dealing with a sore lat muscle earlier this season, which forced him to leave his first start after six innings and made him miss his second start of the season.
