Jacob deGrom threw 25 pitches during a bullpen session in Florida on Friday, the Mets said. DeGrom was unable to pitch his full bullpen session, Terry Collins said.
He will throw again on Sunday before a decision is made on whether he goes on the disabled list or not.
Collins said that deGrom did have an MRI on his sore lat muscle, despite earlier reports saying he wouldn't need one.
DeGrom is in Florida for the birth of his son and stayed behind to work on his sore lat which forced him out of his most recent start.
