NEW YORK -- As the 1:10 p.m. ET start time approached, the rain continued to fall at Citi Field, forcing the Mets into a last-minute decision to pull ace Jacob deGrom from his scheduled start before the game Sunday.
The plan was originally for deGrom to pitch through the "light rain" that was scheduled in the forecast, but as time passed and the game was delayed 27 minutes, it was clear the weather was not letting up.
Corey Oswalt made the spot start in deGrom's place.
