NEW YORK -- To the surprise of no one, Mets ace Jacob deGrom was named to the 2018 National League All-Star team on Sunday night. The man with the best ERA of any starter in baseball earned his second All-Star selection with a superb first half.
deGrom is the only Met who will be part of the NL squad in Washington on July 17 for the All-Star Game presented by Mastercard. deGrom has been one of the best pitchers in baseball this season, leading all Major League starters with an ERA of 1.79.
deGrom has allowed three runs or fewer in 15 consecutive starts, which is the longest streak by a Mets starter within one season since Dwight Gooden did so in 24 straight in 1985.
