DeGrom dazzles, Mets snap streak with 2-0 win over Brewers

MILWAUKEE — The meeting did not work, so Thursday afternoon, Terry Collins went toe-to-toe with second base umpire Larry Vanover and got himself tossed in the fourth inning arguing a caught-stealing call. In an age-old manager’s trick, Collins was tossed, most likely in an attempt to fire up his lifeless team.

It seemed to work. Jacob deGrom was brilliant — except for his baserunning — throwing eight scoreless innings and the Mets managed to scrape together two runs as they snapped a seven-game losing streak with a 2-0 win over the Brewers at Miller Park Thursday.
