Resuming Saturday’s tied game against the Reds, which was suspended in the seventh inning, the Mets’ offense failed and flailed on numerous game-winning opportunities Sunday afternoon – finishing 0-for-15 with runners in scoring position – but somehow still claimed their third straight victory with a 2-1, 13-inning win over the Reds at Citi Field.
Setting up the highly anticipated debut of prized pitching prospect Steven Matz in the second game, Dilson Herrera drew a walk from Nate Adcock to start the bottom of the 13th, with Curtis Granderson putting runners at the corners after a single to right.
