Day later, Mets end marathon hitting misery to edge Reds in 13

With enough time, almost anything can happen.

Resuming Saturday’s tied game against the Reds, which was suspended in the seventh inning, the Mets’ offense failed and flailed on numerous game-winning opportunities Sunday afternoon – finishing 0-for-15 with runners in scoring position – but somehow still claimed their third straight victory with a 2-1, 13-inning win over the Reds at Citi Field.

Setting up the highly anticipated debut of prized pitching prospect Steven Matz in the second game, Dilson Herrera drew a walk from Nate Adcock to start the bottom of the 13th, with Curtis Granderson putting runners at the corners after a single to right.
