PORT ST. LUCIE, Fla. — David Wright will make his first appearance of spring training in a minor-league game on Monday.
The Mets captain has been working his way into game shape as he deals with his spinal stenosis. Wright hopes to play in a major-league spring training game on Thursday or Friday and said he has no doubt he’ll be ready for the April 3 season opener.
“I think that it’s been where our medical staff, the coaching staff obviously have been taking it slow with me,” Wright said on Saturday after the Mets’ 14-9 loss to the Cardinals.
