PORT ST. LUCIE — For years David Wright has been a role model, but now the Mets captain wants to be seen as a cautionary tale.
Following the Mets’ run to the World Series, Wright is hoping that his younger teammates will look at his career and learn from it.
“My message would be: Don't let last year be the pinnacle of what this team is able to accomplish, let's take it one step further — then we can really celebrate,” said Wright, who has often talked about how he expected the Mets to be a perennial playoff team after making a run to the NLCS in 2006.
