David Wright to make 2016 Grapefruit League debut Friday

JUPITER, Fla. -- After being treated conservatively early in camp, New York Mets third baseman David Wright is due to make his 2016 Grapefruit League debut Friday night against the Washington Nationals at Tradition Field, manager Terry Collins said.

Wright missed four months of last season dealing with spinal stenosis in his lower back, then took a full month off after the World Series based on a recommendation from doctors. So Wright was behind entering camp. Team officials had resolved to proceed slowly with Wright anyway during spring training to try to avoid the back issue seriously flaring up.
