David Wright to be examined by doctors within next 2 weeks

David Wright said he will be examined by doctors within the next two weeks with the hope he can be cleared for baseball activity.

The Mets captain, who is coming off multiple surgeries and continues to battle stenosis in his back, is nearing the two-year anniversary of his last appearance for the team.

Jacob deGrom, who was removed from his last start after throwing 45 pitches in the first inning, will pitch Friday against the Diamondbacks, according to manager Mickey Callaway.

Steven Matz will pitch Saturday, followed by Noah Syndergaard to conclude the series. The new alignment separates deGrom and Syndergaard in the rotation — they had previously pitched back-to-back.
