NEW YORK -- During a 20-minute conversation with manager Terry Collins after Saturday’s National League Championship Series opener, slumping New York Mets captain David Wright volunteered to sit out Game 2. Still, Collins is sticking with Wright in the starting lineup on Sunday night against the Chicago Cubs … and in the No. 2 hole.
Collins’ purpose in checking with Wright after Saturday's game was in part to make sure the captain’s back is OK and that he did not need a day off. Wright reported that he was not troubled by the spinal stenosis that cost him four months of the regular season.
