The final game of David Wright’s career was without a storybook ending, but that didn’t take away from the emotion of it all for the Mets third baseman.
Wright exited the game against the Marlins at Citi Field to a standing ovation in the top of the fifth inning Saturday night with the game scoreless. He went 0-for-1 with a walk – his final at-bat was a soft pop out to first to lead off the bottom of the fourth.
