David Wright takes another step in his unlikely Mets comeback

At this rate, David Wright might beat Yoenis Cespedes back to the Mets lineup.

Wright took outdoor batting practice for the first time before the Mets dropped their seventh straight game, 6-4, to the Pirates on Monday night at Citi Field. He will travel with the team to Miami for this weekend’s series against the Marlins and then report to Port St. Lucie to continue his rehabilitation.

Wright, 35, missed all of 2017 and has only appeared in 75 games since 2015 due to major back, neck and shoulder injuries. He had already been taking batting practice indoors, fielding ground balls and throwing.
