David Wright returning to the Mets — kind of

David Wright is coming back to the Mets. He just won’t be playing for the Mets — not yet, at least.

The third baseman will join the team in San Francisco, with a series starting Friday, to continue his rehab under the eye of the Mets’ training staff but will remain on the disabled list, the club announced Thursday.

Wright is on the road back from multiple injuries to his back, neck and shoulder, not having played a major league game since May 27, 2016. The captain played 12 games this month on a minor-league rehab assignment, going 7-for-41 after starting out 0-for-14.
