David Wright looked sluggish at bat and in the field Sunday

Last night in Kansas City, David Wright started his 12th consecutive Opening Day for the Mets, passing Bud Harrelson and Tom Seaver for the most in franchise history.

Wright, who did not get his first Grapefruit League at-bat until mid-March as he eased his way back in to the lineup, played in just 38 games last season while recovering from lumbar spinal stenosis.

In the ninth inning Sunday night, down 4-3, the Mets got runners to first and third with one out against Royals closer Wade Davis.

However, Wright swung and missed, fouled a ball back and took strike three looking for the inning's second out, after which Yoenis Cespedes struck out to end the game.
