David Wright announced Thursday he will be done playing after a brief return later this month. Here are 10 moments that defined his memorable career:
Mets debut
A new era began for the Mets on July 21, 2004, when Wright made his big-league debut, joining fellow top prospect Jose Reyes on the left side of the infield.
Grab against Padres
Wright’s barehanded catch while sprinting into shallow left field with a dive on a blooper hit by Brian Giles on Aug. 9, 2005, remains one of the great highlights of his career.
2006 All-Star Game
In his first career All-Star Game at-bat, Wright clocked a Kenny Rogers pitch for a homer the day after reaching the Home Run Derby final, where he lost to Ryan Howard.
