David Wright isn’t getting eased back into the Mets lineup.
The third baseman’s first start since mid-April will come out of the cleanup spot on Monday night for the opener of a four-game series against the Phillies.
Wright, 32, went 9-for-28 (all singles) during his rehab stint at Single-A while recovering from a diagnosis of spinal stenosis.
“He looks good, he’s feeling good, he’s swinging the bat good, but it’s the Florida State League, so I’m not putting any expectations on it,” manager Terry Collins said Sunday.
