David Peterson, the Mets’ 2017 first-round draft pick who ranked seventh on our list of the team’s top 25 prospects for 2020, will make his major league debut tonight against the Red Sox in Boston.
The 24-year-old Denver native spent 2019 at Double-A Binghamton, where he posted a 3-6 record in 24 starts with a 4.19 ERA. He also posted a 3.46 ERA in four starts in the 2019 Arizona Fall League.
Injuries to starters Noah Syndergaard and Marcus Stroman this offseason already had the Mets scrambling for a fifth starter before Opening Day.
