Darryl Hamilton mourned by family, friends at Monday service

Hundreds of mourners packed the chapel of Houston’s Second Baptist Church Monday to pay their respects to Darryl Hamilton, the former major leaguer shot to death on Father’s Day by his ex-girlfriend, Monica Jordan.

According to a source who attended the service, Hamilton’s former Giants manager, Dusty Baker, gave a eulogy for the enormously popular Hamilton. Darryl’s older brother, John, who was also his agent, and four of Hamilton’s close friends spoke at the two-hour service as well.

“There were two friends from Baton Rouge (where Darryl was born) who talked about his high school days, how Darryl was such a good dresser, how he was the star athlete, and how they looked up to him,” said the person who attended the service.
