Danny Young will try to earn and hold down a spot in the Mets’ bullpen in 2025

There are, to put it mildly, a bunch of pitchers in spring training trying to make the Mets’ Opening Day roster. And coming off a 2024 season that saw him set a career high in major league innings pitched, left-handed 30-year-old Danny Young is one of those pitchers.

Young found himself called up to the Mets’ major league roster in early May last year, shortly after fellow lefty reliever Brooks Raley had succumbed to injury. He only appeared in a couple of games before he was sent back down to Triple-A Syracuse, but after another call-up that saw him get into a game on May 30, he spent more of the remainder of his season at the major league level than he did in Syracuse.
