Daniel Murphy to DL, forcing Mets to juggle infield again

PHOENIX — Daniel Murphy is hurting, leaving the Mets in potential need of infield help.

To that end, the organization has Danny Muno and Wilfredo Tovar headed from Triple-A Las Vegas to Arizona – but neither has been officially recalled.

Murphy is expected to undergo an MRI exam on Friday, after leaving the previous night’s game with tightness in his left quadriceps. Manager Terry Collins had just shifted Murphy to third base as David Wright’s replacement and Ruben Tejada to second.

Muno and Tovar both traveling to Arizona could signal the Mets will make a second roster move if Murphy is placed on the disabled list.
