Michael Cuddyer only knows one way to play baseball.
“I’m going to slide hard, and hopefully 99 percent of the time it’s clean,” the Mets outfielder said after an 8-2 victory over the Yankees on Saturday.
It was Cuddyer’s hard slide into second base in the fourth inning that helped break up a potential double play and played a role in the Mets’ four-run inning. The big hit, with two outs in the inning, was Kevin Plawecki’s two-run homer.
“There are things that help you get victories, and we were able to get four runs after [the slide],” Cuddyer said.
