Conforto breaks out of funk with leadoff HR

CINCINNATI -- So deep was Michael Conforto's slump that Mets manager Mickey Callaway gave Conforto two days off in a row last weekend, calling it a mental break for his young All-Star outfielder. Mired in an 0-for-13 funk, Conforto returned to the lineup Monday, and immediately set about proving that he deserves to stay there.

Conforto led off the Mets' series opener at Great American Ball Park with an opposite-field home run against Homer Bailey, his seventh career leadoff home run and the Mets' first of the season.
