Bartolo Colon has served his purpose. The veteran right-hander was signed to a two-year deal in December 2013 basically to be a placeholder while Matt Harvey missed the 2014 season after Tommy John surgery. In that time, Colon has won 27 games for the Mets and served as a leader for the young pitching staff.
So, with the Mets starting to think about as possible playoff roster, what is the 42-year old's role on this team full of young pitching?
Colon at least made his case for being part of the Mets playoff rotation Monday night.
