As a well-traveled and respected pitching coach, Dave Wallace has friends throughout baseball, but perhaps none closer than Terry Collins.
So as the Orioles pitching coach stopped to consider the two-game series the Mets will begin Tuesday at Camden Yards, he’s thrilled to see his old friend in the manager’s seat with a first-place team.
“Given what he’s done over the last few years when he got there and inherited that team and all the problems that were going on internally, and to handle the New York press and do the job he’s done, I think it’s terrific,” Wallace said Monday by phone.
