Part of Collins' implication was that if the Mets play the Blue Jays, who feature left-hander David Price in their rotation, they may be more likely to press things with Uribe. But if it's the Royals, who do not possess a single left-handed starter, the Mets will have fewer qualms sticking with players -- left-handed infielder Kelly Johnson, for example -- whom they know are healthy.
Uribe hit six home runs in 44 games after coming to the Mets in a July 24 trade, but he has been unavailable since injuring his chest diving for a ball in late September.
