Jeurys Familia will remain the Mets closer after Bobby Parnell and Vic Black return from rehab stints, Terry Collins told reporters Sunday morning.
Familia has gone 5-for-5 in save opportunities during the Mets’ seven-game winning streak.
“If Bobby Parnell and Vic Black show up tomorrow, Jeurys Familia will still close,” Collins said.
Black pitched a scoreless inning for Double-A Binghamton Saturday. Black appears close to returning, but has not pitched on consecutive days yet.
Parnell isn’t expected back until late May or early June. He allowed two hits, two runs and a walk in the ninth for Class A Brevard County Thursday.
