Christian Scott to the IL with UCL sprain

Christian Scot is heading to the 15-Day Injured List with a right UCL strain, retroactive to July 22nd, the Mets announced earlier today on Twitter. The severity of the injury is unknown at the moment. In a corresponding move, left-handed reliever Alex Young has been recalled from Triple-A Syracuse.

Scott, 25, has made nine starts thus far in the majors, putting up a 4.56 ERA over 47.1 innings, with 39 strikeouts to 12 walks.

Obviously, the phrase ‘UCL strain’ strikes fear in the hearts of Mets’ fans, who immediately jump to the conclusion of Scott needing Tommy John Surgery.
