Amazing, attention-grabbing things keep happening for the surging Mets.
The latest was Ruben Tejada’s inside-the-park homer in the second inning Wednesday night. After Kelly Johnson drove in David Wright with an RBI double to give the Mets a 1-0 lead, it was time for Tejada’s heroics.
The Mets shortstop hit a flare down the right-field line that dropped in as sprinting Phillies outfielder Domonic Brown couldn’t come up with the ball and fell into the stands. By the time, second baseman Cesar Hernandez was able to track down the ball way out in right field, Tejada easily had his inside-the-park homer, giving the Mets a 3-0 lead.
