Los Angeles Dodgers infielder Chase Utley has been suspended for Games 3 and 4 of the NLDS against the Mets after illegally sliding into Ruben Tejada while he attempted to turn a double play during the seventh inning of Game 2 on Saturday at Dodger Stadium, MLB chief baseball office Joe Torre announced Sunday.
Tejada was carted off the field after suffering a broken right fibula on the play. He'll miss the rest of the playoffs.
"I recognize that there has been much commentary on and many questions regarding the unfortunate play in last night's game in which Ruben Tejada was injured," Joe Torre said in a statement Sunday.
