The Mets winning Monday against the Marlins is more exciting and impressive than their recent sweep of the Nationals in D.C.
The fact is, because of the late start and finish Sunday night, the Mets did not get to their team hotel until around 5 a.m. Monday morning.
It could have been an easy game to "mail in," sleep walk through a loss, get rest and go back at it in hopes of taking the series beginning Tuesday.
However, when Mickey Callaway gave his players the option to rest, they turned him down.
According to outfielder Jay Bruce, given they entered play Monday with a 7-1 record, fresh off sweeping their top division rival, and given how early it is in the season, it would have been foolish to do anything other than press on.
