Earlier today, the Mets announced that starting pitcher Carlos Carrasco had suffered a hamstring injury while working out following his throwing session at spring training, and the update on the injury isn’t great: Carrasco has a high-grade hamstring tear.
That is not great news for the Mets, as Carrasco is one of their better starting pitchers. In his absence, the Mets’ rotation will feature Jacob deGrom, Marcus Stroman, Taijuan Walker, and presumably two of David Peterson, Joey Lucchesi, and Jordan Yamamoto.
There’s no timeline for Carrasco’s return to the Mets’ rotation yet, but it doesn’t sound like he’ll be back in the near future.
