I’m still looking for that smoking gun, the all-networks directive that essentially reads, “Until further notice, treat sports viewers and listeners as the morons we believe they are.”
On Friday, in the top of the 10th of Pirates-Mets, came a short sermon from SNY’s Keith Hernandez:
“This is stretch run time; you’ve got, what, 46 games left. Every game is so critical.”
In the bottom of the 10th, Pirates up, 3-1, then 3-2, the Mets’ Yoenis Cespedes swung at a ball in the dirt for strike three and — perhaps — the second out. The ball bounced away from catcher Francisco Cervelli and toward third base.
