José Buttó and Cole Ragans traded zeroes as each pitcher went six innings, and their bullpens followed suit until the Mets finally broke through for the first run of the game on a two-out bases loaded dribbler off the bat of Harrison Bader. A bases loaded walk followed, giving the Mets a 2-0 lead that wound up being the final score as they won the rubber game of the series.
Buttó was particularly impressive, as he struck out nine, walked one, and gave up just two hits on 91 pitches.
The Mets had some opportunities to score before the eighth inning, but they wasted all of them.
