One of the impending decisions for the New York Mets this offseason will be the hiring of a new manager. On Thursday, the front office parted ways with manager Mickey Callaway after a 163-161 record through two seasons and zero playoff appearances.
Who’s on the shortlist for the vacant manager spot? Well, the list could definitely include names such as Joe Girardi and Joe Maddon. However, there’s another name that is showing interest in the managerial job, and it’s former major league skipper Buck Showalter.
“Yeah, I’d like to be talked about it, but I’m not going to campaign about it, and I’m real uncomfortable even talking about it with you now because there’s a lot of good people out there and they’re going to make a good decision,” Showalter said when asked about the position by Steve Somers of WFAN.
