Brooks Raley is set to undergo Tommy John surgery next week, per Tim Healey of Newsday, and his season is effectively over as a result. The 35-year-old left-handed reliever made his last appearance of the season on April 19 before hitting the injured list with an elbow issue.
At the time, the Mets said that Raley was expected to return to the mound at the end of his 15-day stint on the IL, but that didn’t happen. From there, there were mixed reports about what was actually going on with Raley’s elbow, but the lack of good news seemed to hint strongly at pretty bad news.
