Former second baseman and one of the all-time favorite Mets players, Edgardo Alfonzo, is moving up the ranks to manage Brooklyn. Alfonzo had served on the Cyclones’ coaching staff for the last three season, but will now get to lead the team as the 11th manager in the franchise’s history.
Alfonzo contributed to a ton of great memories for Mets fans over the years he played in Queens, so it’s extremely cool to see him get a managing gig with the franchise he helped win an NL pennant in 2000.
His 1999 NLDS Game 1 performance versus the Arizona Diamondbacks is one for the ages.
